We believe our adopted pets are family and love to see our alumni thriving in their homes!
LOVEPAWS was originally founded as a shelter intake prevention program in 2019 with a mission of keeping pets in homes and out of our local shelters through community outreach. Our outreach efforts are targeted towards helping pet owners in low-income and underserved communities in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, Maryland.
Shelters and rescues are in the midst of a capacity crisis. More dogs are brought into the shelter than they have kennel space. Prince George’s County, MD has the nation’s largest breed ban on “pit bull type” dogs so rescues like LOVEPAWS become the only hope of getting these animals out of the constantly over-crowded shelter alive. Veterinary and other medical expenses have continued to increase since COVID and one surgery can drain thousands of dollars from rescue funds and put their operations at risk.
Proceeds from this calendar contest and sales will provide the funds to support our foster dog and cat programs. LOVEPAWS rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Your vote/donation is tax deductible, keep your emailed receipt for tax purposes.
When you enter your pet in this contest, you are helping to save the lives of at-risk animals in our local shelters and support our community outreach efforts to keep pets in their homes and out of shelters.
Participation:
Enter your pet in the contest by submitting a photograph with a $10 donation. Share the link with your family and friends to gather votes. Each vote is $1. Contest entries MUST be adopted from LOVEPAWS.
Calendar Prizes
The top 13 photos will be featured in the calendar. The photo with the most votes will be the coveted calendar cover model, the remaining 12 photos will be the featured photo for each month.
All photo entries that receive over 300 votes will receive a free calendar.
Want a guaranteed spot on the calendar? Use the Reserve-A-Spot feature to pick a special day to honor your pet with a $15 donation. Your pet’s picture will be displayed on that day and will guarantee that your pet is in our 2026 calendar. **This is open to all rescued/adopted dogs and cats, not only LOVEPAWS alumni.

Rules
Your pet needs to be adopted from LOVEPAWS in order to submit a photo for the contest.
The submission and voting period begins at 6:00:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Sunday, June 1, 2025 and ends at 8:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Monday, June 30, 2025.
The top 13 photos will be featured in the calendar. The photo with the most votes will be our calendar cover model, the remaining 12 photos will be the featured photo for each month.
Entry fee is $10. Each vote equals $1.
If you have reserved a day and your photo also ends up in the top 13, we will contact you for a 2nd photo as your reserved day.
Eligible Photographs
- Photos should only feature the pet being entered in the contest. Do not share photos with multiple animals or people in the photo.
- Please make sure your photo is in good lighting, with no red eye etc. They must be high resolution for printing purposes.
- If your photo was taken by a professional photographer, you are responsible for making sure you have permission to use that photo.
- Once photos are submitted, you grant LOVEPAWS the right to use them for print and marketing purposes. LOVEPAWS reserves the right to decline publication of any photograph for any reason. Should this occur, we will notify you and if an appropriate replacement cannot be obtained, refund your entry fee if desired. Photos of dogs wearing a prong or electric collars are not eligible.
LOVEPAWS was originally founded as a shelter intake prevention program in 2019 with a mission of keeping pets in homes and out of our local shelters through community outreach. Our outreach efforts are targeted towards helping pet owners in low-income and underserved communities in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, Maryland.
At the core of our community outreach services is our pet pantry which feeds nearly 500 owned pets and community cats every month. Our other services include distribution of free life saving supplies like ID tags, leashes and no-slip collars, training assistance, and our rehoming service that moves pets from home-to-home, completely bypassing the shelter. We also help support community cats while humanely curbing the population by providing colony caretakers with food from our pantry and providing spay/neuter subsidies to support TNR efforts. We also work with caretakers to provide medical subsidies for sick and injured community cats.
Our scope and mission quickly expanded to include pulling dogs and cats from local shelters, with a focus on the pit bull type dogs of Prince George’s County (PG pitties) targeted by a decades-old county-wide breed ban. This has allowed our organization to rescue and advocate for the most at-risk animals, the true underdogs in our community, in homes, in shelters and living in colonies. We are committed to stepping forward whenever we can and wherever the need is greatest.
LOVEPAWS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN: 83-3122611). We are an exclusively 100% unpaid volunteer-based, foster-based rescue with our foster network spanning MD, DC, and VA.
