Our second annual "Coolest Pet in Mukilteo Contest" is open to anyone 18 years or older who would like to enter their pet to compete for the coveted title of "2021 Mukilteo's Coolest Pet! "Pet" is defined as a canine or dog, feline or cat. In addition, we are offering a fun option of "Best Pet Halloween Costume" that can include any pet such as a dog, cat, bird, gecko, horse, goldfish, or animal that can be photographed and is a pet!

The contest is open to anyone within the city limits of Mukilteo, WA or anywhere in the universe. Our focus is Mukilteo, but pets from anywhere can enter. To participate, an entrant must submit a photo of their pet, and provide a few short sentences why their pet is the coolest of the cool. Photos should be digital, in focus and sharp enough to look good on the internet and show off the pet. Photos of pets only, no people. By submitting a photo, the pet owner is granting GoGo Photo Contest and the Mukilteo Kiwanis Foundation approval to post their pet photo(s) on the contest website, the website of the Mukilteo Kiwanis Foundation, the Mukilteo Beacon and Mukilteo Monthly. Unfortunately, we probably will not be able to schedule a formal contest celebration after its conclusion.

The entrance fee is $10 per pet submission. With payment of the submission fee, 10 votes are automatically awarded. If there are multiple pets in one family, separate photos of each pet must be entered, posted separately and the $10 submission fee paid for each. One pet per entry. Be sure to enter all of your critters!

The Mukilteo Kiwanis Foundation is announcing a new prize for entries in the "2021 Coolest Pet in Mukilteo" online pet contest. All entrants who do not place in First, Second or Third in our Dog, Cat or Best Pet Halloween Costume category will be placed in a random drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Karmichaels's Auto Salon as a thank you for entering. Eligibility to participate in this random drawing is:

• Entry into the Dog, Cat or Best Pet Halloween Costume Category but did not place First, Second or Third in any category by the end of the contest at midnight on November 5, 2021.
• Entry has received at least 50 votes by midnight on Friday November 5, 2021.

The random drawing winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 10 via email to all entrants. The winner of this random drawing will receive their gift certificate by mail, and will be invited to be photographed with our First, Second and Third Place winners for the Mukilteo Kiwanis Foundation website, as well as the Mukilteo Beacon and Mukilteo Monthly Magazine. By excepting the award, you are giving us permission to include your photograph; the date and time of photos will be determined later.

Pet owners are encouraged to have their friends, relatives and co-workers visit the contest website and vote for their pet. Each vote costs $1 each, and there is no maximum on how many votes can be purchased. For example, $100 pays for 100 votes that can be used anytime during the contest period. Pet owners may purchase additional votes, too.

The contest voting period is October 1 through midnight on November 5, 2021. Be sure to vote early and often to support the Mukilteo Kiwanis Foundation! 100% of the proceeds will benefit youth in our community with post-high school scholarships and grants to area non-profits with the same mission as the Mukilteo Kiwanis Foundation: to serve the children and youth of our community and the world.
