The Perseus Foundation is a nonprofit animal cancer research organization that invests in science to advance cancer research benefiting companion animals and pediatric oncology patients. The Perseus Foundation is currently raising money for the Canine T Cell Infusion Project—a research and development initiative to make Adoptive T Cell Immunotherapy available as soon as possible. T Cell Immunotherapy is an emerging, promising treatment for cancer in pets and people. The process selects, expands, and activates the naturally occurring T Cells that possess cancer-controlling properties, and then re-infuses the cells in order to tip the balance of the immune system towards an anti-cancer environment. Immunotherapy can be used in conjunction with chemotherapy and has the advantage of not having the toxic side-effects of standard chemotherapy. In addition, immunotherapy is suspected of inducing a long-standing memory immune response. The Perseus Foundation is helping to fund the research and development of this promising new treatment and providing financial resources to help dog owners with treatment expenses.
