About Us

Extraordinary Dogs Inc is a training/enrichment and rescue facility that works solely with dogs rescued from high-kill facilities.  We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity registered in the state of New Mexico.

Our mission is to provide rescued "death row" dogs with the skills and training to help them become extraordinary canine friends for life to their adopted family.   All of our resident dogs were rescued from high-kill facilities, many just minutes before euthanasia. Many are currently in training to be used in service and therapy.

Because of our unique "matching" program and our focus on training/teaching/enrichment for the dogs, we have successfully adopted many and are proud to say that our success rate is 100%. We often rescue the neediest and most unwanted (e.g. dogs labeled as "feral"), and those sometimes become part of our sanctuary program due to age or illness.

We are one of the few facilities that studies, monitors and educates owners about canine emotional health, and are very much on the front line in fighting to reform the dysfunctional animal control/shelter system.
