The NSBA Foundation Monthly Photo Contest is a fun way to celebrate the joy, humor, heart, and unforgettable moments of life with horses, all while supporting the NSBA Youth of the Year Scholarship. Every entry helps invest in the next generation of leaders in our industry.
Whether your horse is striking a pose, being a little goofy, or simply stealing your heart, we want to see it! Your participation does more than create smiles – it directly supports the NSBA Youth of the Year Scholarship, helping young equestrians pursue their education, leadership development, and future in the horse industry.

Rules
Calendar Photo Contest – Official Rules
1. Contest Overview
The Calendar Photo Contest invites photographers (both amateur and professional!) to submit original photographs for possible inclusion in NSBA’s 2026 – 2027 calendar. By entering, participants agree to comply with these Official Rules.
2. Eligibility
- Photo submission is open to all horse lovers – regardless of membership status
3. Contest Period
- Submission Opens: 12:00 AM (Central Time) on Friday, February 20, 2026
- Submission Deadline: midnight (11:59:59 PM Central Time) on Friday, March 20, 2026 Entries submitted outside the Contest Period will not be considered.
- After the submission deadline, photos will be reviewed and finalists will be selected
- Voting will be open 12:00 AM (Central Time) on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 – 8:00 PM (Central Time) on Thursday, April 30, 2026
4. How to Enter
- Submit photos via gogophoto.com as instructed.
- Each participant may submit as many photos as desired
- No purchase or payment is required to enter.
5. Photo Requirements
- Photos must be original work taken by the entrant.
- High-resolution images required (minimum [e.g., 300 dpi], [e.g., 3000 x 2400 pixels]).
- Accepted formats: [JPEG/PNG/TIFF].
- Photos must be suitable for a family-friendly audience.
- All photos must include a horse!
- No watermarks, logos, borders, or excessive digital manipulation.
- The Photograph must be an original work created by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted Photographs are original works created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe upon the copy rights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Photographs.
- If the Photograph contains any material or elements that are not owned by the entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties and/or if any persons appear in the photograph, the entrant is responsible for obtaining any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the publication and use of the Photograph in a manner set forth in the Official Rules without any additional compensation.
- Each photo submission must also include, entrant name, photo title, and photo description / story
6. Subject Matter Guidelines
- Photos should align with the calendar theme:
January – Winter Wonderland
Show off your horse enjoying a winter wonderland!
February – Love Your Horse
In Honor of Valentines Day, submit a picture that celebrates how much you love your horse!
March – Mares & Babies
There is nothing cuter than a foal, submit your picture of a mare and baby
April – Spring is in the Air
For April, send in your best picture of horses enjoying the spring season!
May – Graduation
Whether it is college, high school or kindergarten - send in you pictures of your horse celebrating graduation season
June – Team Spirit
Whether it is your barn team, NCAA team, YEDA/ IEA team, or your favorite sports team, submit your horse showing off the best team spirit!
July – Beat the Heat
July is truly the dog days of summer, submit a photo of your horse enjoying the sunshine or celebrating summer!
August – World Champions
No need to be humble – submit the picture that best shows off your favorite world champion!
September – Fall Fun
Falling leaves, pumpkin spice, and flannel – for September send in a picture of your horse getting into the fall vibes
October – Costume Contest
Happy Halloween! Send in your best photos of your horse all dressed up in costume!
November – Fat Pony Month!
In honor of Thanksgiving it might be time to loosen the girth, send a photo of your favorite fat pony!
December – Holiday Spirit
Time to get festive and show off your horse’s holiday spirit!
- Images should reflect professionalism, safety, and good sportsmanship.
- Submissions that depict unsafe, abusive, or unethical practices will be disqualified.
7. Model and Property Releases
- If a photo includes identifiable individuals, the entrant must have obtained written permission (model release).
- If private property is identifiable, property owner permission may be required.
- By submitting, entrant confirms all necessary permissions have been secured.
- By entering the Contest, all entrants (and their respective parents and legal guardians) grant a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to Authorized Parties, to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries (along with a name credit) in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter known. Authorized Parties will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use.
8. Judging and Selection
- Photos will be reviewed to ensure they represent the values of NSBA.
- Voting will be completed via donation, with a minimum donation of $5.00 USD
- The finalist receiving the greatest total donations by 8:00 PM (Central Time) on Thursday, April 30, 2026 will win each month.
9. Notification of Selected Entries
- Selected entrants will be notified via email by March 27, 2026
- Failure to respond by the stated deadline may result in disqualification.
10. Rights and Usage
- By entering, entrants grant the Organization a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, edit, publish, and distribute submitted photos for calendar production, marketing, promotional, educational, and archival purposes.
- Photographers retain copyright to their images.
- Photo credits may be given when feasible but are not guaranteed.
12. Disqualification
The Organization reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:
- Violates these Official Rules
- Contains false or misleading information
- Is deemed inappropriate or inconsistent with organizational values
13. Limitation of Liability
The Organization is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, or corrupted submissions, or for technical issues beyond its control.
14. Privacy
Information collected from entrants will be used solely for contest administration and related communications, in accordance with the Organization’s privacy policies.
15. General Conditions
- The Organization reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Contest if circumstances require.
- By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and all decisions of the Organization.
