Describe your art here - type of art, techniques and materials used, what your art represents and what it means to you.
Based on the popular tune from Mary Poppins, I wrote new lyrics for Brain Tumor Survivor Month. While having had a brain tumor is very unfunny, this song uses humor to describe some of the challenges of dealing with the aftermath of craniopharyngioma. I have found creativity and humor to be good coping mechanisms for dealing with the seriousness of this life-altering brain tumor. I produced the music and my son, Alex (brain tumor survivor) and I sang it together. I enjoyed the writing and production of the music and Alex and I had fun making the video together. You can blame me for the (corny) choreography!

On a more serious note, I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors of the Raymond A. Wood Foundation and hope that we can raise both awareness and funds to support this amazing organization to help our brain tumor families! Thank you for your support!

Please include your age, tumor type and date of diagnosis (patients & survivors only) and let us know how art has impacted your life.
Alex was diagnosed with a giant craniopharyngioma in 2011 when he was 8 years old. He has all of the usual aftereffects from the tumor. He is 18 now and will be graduating from high school this June. Alex loves to work with children and is currently studying to get his Early Childhood Education units so that he can work with young children in a preschool or childcare setting.

As his mother, I have been very involved in advocating on his behalf and joined the Raymond A Wood Foundation last year. I believe strongly that survivors and caregivers can often be the most important agents in advancing science and advocacy for rare disease.
