Black-bellied Whistling Duck

Insight about the shot or species
North American population has greatly increased since the 1950s when they were very rare in Texas. Adults are spectacularly marked sociable, noisy waterfowl, often resting on low snags above water, and may perch high in dead trees. In North America numbers have increased, because it readily adapts to urban lakes and ponds, and will use nest boxes put out for it.
